President Trump was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for helping to conclude a peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, writes New York Post.

Christian Tybring-Jedde, member of the Norwegian parliament and chairman of the NATO parliamentary assembly, has nominated Trump.

“For his services. I think he has done more to try to bring peace between nations than most of the other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde told Fox News.

In a letter to the Nobel Committee, Tybring Jeddah wrote that the Trump administration has played a key role in establishing relations between the two countries.

“With other countries in the Middle East expected to follow in the UAE’s footsteps, this agreement could be a game-changer, transforming the Middle East into a region of cooperation and prosperity,” he wrote.

Tybring-Jeddah also referred to “Trump's key role in facilitating contact between conflicting parties and creating new dynamics in other protracted conflicts, such as the India-Pakistan Kashmir border conflict and the conflict between North and South Korea, and North Korea’s nuclear capabilities. ".

And he praised the president for pulling out large numbers of troops from the Middle East.

“Indeed, Trump broke a 39-year streak of American presidents who either start a war or involve the United States in an international armed conflict. The last president who did not do this was Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter,” he wrote.

Last month, the president announced a landmark peace agreement that will pave the way for a full normalization of relations between Israel and the UAE. Under the agreement, the UAE becomes the third Arab country after Egypt and Jordan to have full diplomatic relations with the Jewish state.

Senior White House adviser Jared Kushner, who is married to the president's daughter Ivanka Trump, helped to arrange the deal.

After the deal was made public, Israel made it clear that it was ready to explore business opportunities with the UAE, particularly in the areas of commercial space and high technology.

Trump's allies have previously offered a possible Nobel Prize in response to his talks with North Korea.

The President also expressed dissatisfaction with the award, noting that it went to his predecessor, Barack Obama.

“They gave it to Obama. He didn't even know why. He stayed there for about 15 seconds and received the Nobel Prize. He said, “Oh, what did I get it for?” - Trump noted in February 2019. “I’ll probably never get it.”

Tybring-Jeddah previously nominated Trump for the Nobel Prize alongside another Norwegian official in 2018 following a presidential summit in Singapore with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also reportedly nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after receiving a request from the US government.

According to the official website of the Nobel Prize, 2020 candidates nominated for the 318 Peace Prize. The winner of 2021 will not be announced until October next year.
