Official: Bruce Willis retires due to serious illness

Willis' family members released a joint statement on social media announcing the actor's retirement.

“As a family, we wanted to let Bruce's wonderful fans know that our beloved Bruce is experiencing some health issues. He was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which affects his cognitive abilities, the statement said. “As a result of this, Bruce is giving up a career that meant so much to him.”

Aphasia is the complete or partial loss of already formed speech. The disease occurs due to damage to certain areas of the brain.
