I love to watch the Russians feel sorry for immigrants

Probably, I wouldn’t write these lines if I hadn’t accidentally stumbled upon the performance of an actress who had long been released in circulation, who, with her lips pursed in sorrow, had lamented the unfortunate fate of Oleg Vidov. You see, he was cut off from his homeland, from the roots, from his audience ... And so on. He wanted to cry. But just in time I remembered the testimony of friend Vidov (and my friend) a wonderful actor Ilya Baskin: Oleg could not tolerate Mother Russia, lived a happy life in the United States, did what he wanted, he had a wonderful home and a wonderful family. So I restrained myself, although, looking at the TV screen, it was not easy. Moreover, it seemed that died Oleg exclusively from longing for native birch trees. I even remembered the words of the inimitable Viktor Nekrasov: "It is better to die from longing for the Motherland than from hatred for her."

I love to watch how they pity us. Unhappy immigrants who roam in a foreign land and, for the most part, are engaged in washing public lavatories and feeding in garbage dumps. We these, as them? .. Derelicts, in! Without a clan, without a tribe, “mother” raised us, gave us an education, and we ... Terrible horror! Well, it is clear that we would have dreamed of returning to our native Russ, but we could not ... Flying. Circus. Though cry, even laugh. In my opinion, nothing more than wild complexes of scoops, which make them lie to themselves and others, that “Nigeria in the snow” is the best place on Earth, and to suffer from amusing, “leavened patriotism”.

It is not necessary to be Vladimir Nabokov or Joseph Brodsky to feel at home in the West, comfortably and perfectly at "your plate".

Thousands and thousands of people are happy in America and Israel, Germany and Canada, Australia and Great Britain. Many people have found excellent jobs, good salaries, and the respect of others. And most importantly, they are rightfully proud that they were able to take their children and grandchildren out of Russia.

My son, the owner of a successful (pah-pah!) Company, told me by phone when a few years ago he was brought to Moscow: “Dad, you should cast a gold monument to me, who took me out of here ...”. I wish it was an equestrian statue!

I do not see birches in a dream, they burn with clear fire. And the cruiser "Aurora" I also do not dream. Although sometimes there are nightmares: for example, I dream that I live in Russia again and then I wake up in a cold sweat. Thank God, it was just a dream! .. In one interview I was asked if I had thought about returning to Moscow. I replied that I was considering this option to be the next after suicide.

And they, sadly-hypocritically making faces, continue to feel sorry for us. They are us, okay ?! Perhaps some of them seriously believe that I must suffer in a foreign land, and I, the bastard, am happy and proud of my American passport.

And the flag that flies in my house is not hung out in order to curry favor with someone (to whom ?!), but because I have always dreamed of living under a flag that I respect, and not under the one that I hate and despise ...

And another difference between us and them. We all know about Russia - we have lived there for years, and they, as a rule, do not know anything about America. Their knowledge is usually a muddy cocktail of delirium from Putin’s propagandons, "one American ..." couplets, Dean Reed's moron and Angela Davis felonies ...

Okay, guys, if it makes life easier for you, continue in the same spirit - feel sorry for us. We don’t feel sorry: you are not strangers to us after all...
