After consulting with Justice Minister Loretta Lynch and FBI head James Komi, US President Barack Obama decided to announce measures to tighten control over the circulation of arms despite many years of opposition to Congress.

As confirmed by the press service of the White House, the head of state will announce the measures being introduced on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the new plan, all arms sellers will need to have the appropriate licenses and will be required to check their customers.

Exceptions to the rule will also be lifted for some arms dealers on the Internet, as well as at gun shows.

In addition, the FBI will hire more 200 new employees to test arms dealers.

State authorities will be required to provide federal authorities with information about people who do not have gun ownership in connection with mental disorders, as well as with reported cases of domestic violence.

Congress will be asked to allocate half a billion dollars for the treatment of mental disorders among the population.

US Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul has already announced that he will fight against the introduction of these measures with all his might.

However, President Obama says that the measures proposed by him are within his authority and in full compliance with the second amendment to the US Constitution, which guarantees the right of citizens to own weapons.

According to Obama, he has the legal right to do without a congressional vote on this issue.

According to the president, even if checks on the circulation of weapons do not prevent all possible killings, they can save someone’s life.

During his seven years in office, Barack Obama has repeatedly stated the need to tighten legislation in this area.

However, the congress, the majority of which are Republicans, stubbornly does not want to impose any additional restrictions on the sale of weapons in the United States.
