Obama criticized trump's anti-immigration initiative
Ex-US President Barack Obama said Tuesday that President Trump’s decision to cancel the program that defended 800 000 from deportation of illegal immigrants who came to the United States by children "is contrary to our spirit and common sense."
“We all want our borders to be safe and secure, the economy to develop dynamically, and therefore law-abiding citizens can argue about how to reform our immigration system, so that everyone can play by the same rules,” the former head of the White House said in a written statement. “But in making today's decision, the White House pursued other goals.”
Recall that on September 5, Attorney General Jeff Sessions officially announced the cancellation of an illegal immigrant child protection program for five years called the Deferred Action Program for Children Arriving in the USA (DACA).
By decision of the administration, within six months, the Congress may consider any legislative initiatives that will allow these children to continue to remain in the country.
President Barack Obama signed a decree on the entry into force of the DACA program in June 2012. Despite repeated attempts by the administration, controlled by the Republicans, Congress has consistently refused to consider the relevant bill, giving the "immigration amnesty" the force of law.
After leaving the White House, Barack Obama said that any attempt to cancel DACA would force him to publicly criticize Donald Trump and his administration.
In his statement, the ex-president stressed that he did not see “not a single legal reason” for which the children of illegal immigrants could be deprived of the protection of the state.
“They are Americans in their hearts, in their thoughts and in everything else, except for one thing - documents,” Barack Obama said. - They were brought to this country by their parents ... they do not know any other country except ours. They may not know any other language besides English. There is no explanation for the expulsion of talented, energetic, patriotic young people from the country just for what their parents did. "
