Obama published his phone number and offered to discuss the US presidential election
The 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, invited the Americans to send him SMS messages to the number that he published on his page in Facebook.
“Okay, let's try something new. If you are in the US, text me at 773-365-9687 - I want to know how you are doing, what you think and how you plan to vote this year, ”he wrote.
“I will be in touch from time to time to share my thoughts,” Obama added.
In the first 5 hours, more than 15 thousand users left comments under the post on Facebook, shared the publication 13 thousand times.

Subscribers were surprised that the ex-President of the United States openly shares his phone number. Someone suggested that this is a kind of opinion poll to find out how many supporters and opponents Obama has.
Most users were open to the idea and actively commented on the proposal of the former American leader. Many wrote that they missed his presidency, while others said it was time for Obama to “take a step back” because he was no longer relevant to American politics. Someone called to “go back and stop this chaos,” some subscribers suggested that the 44th President of the United States was “trolling” them.

There were also funny comments. For example, one person wrote: "Dear Obamas, please don't forget that I invited you to my birthday party this weekend."
The British woman invited Obama to come and become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom: “I hope there will be a vacancy soon.”
And someone decided to talk not only about the American elections: “Here in Uganda we plan to vote for Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu in 2021.”
Followers warned Obama that “the phone will drive you crazy,” suggesting a barrage of messages that would apparently bombard the president’s personal number. But for a couple of hours now, people have been writing in the comments that the number no longer accepts SMS. Perhaps the ex-president has already learned everything he wanted. But it’s more likely that the mobile operator simply couldn’t handle the load.
