Barack Obama considers territorial attack on Charlie Hebdo’s editors as an attack on press freedom and free speech all over the world. He stated this during a conversation with reporters at the White House, said on Wednesday, January 7, TASS.
“It was an attack on journalists, an attack on our free press, and this shows how terrorists fear freedom of speech and press freedom,” said the American leader.
The President of the United States instructed his administration to provide any assistance to the French intelligence services to investigate the attack and punish those responsible.
In the attack on the morning of January 7 on the Paris editorial office of Charlie Hebdo, 12 people were killed and 10 more were injured. Among the dead were ten employees of the magazine, including editor-in-chief Stephane Charbonnier, writes Lenta.ru.
Unknown men, armed with machine guns and grenade launchers, attacked the office of the publication. The attack was accompanied by shouts of “Allah Akbar!” And “We will avenge the prophet!”. Charlie Hebdo has previously published caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed.
