Obama: Israel is our friend and ally
In an address to American Jews, US President Barack Obama said that Washington and the Israeli government had been conducting a dialogue on security cooperation for several months.
“We have been in discussions with the Israeli government for months about the importance of resuming our work together and strengthening our security cooperation,” Obama said during his direct address to American Jewish groups on the Iran nuclear deal.
According to Obama, this cooperation includes programs to develop next-generation missile defense systems, intelligence cooperation between the two states and “countering Iranian proxies.”
As previously reported, the US president is attempting to convince the Israeli leadership that it is mistaken in its attitude towards Iranian deal. During a meeting with 22 leaders of the US Jewish community, Barack Obama said that torpedoing a treaty with Tehran in Congress would be a disaster for Israel.
According to the head of the White House, if US senators reject the agreement and Iran comes out of it, the US will have to solve the problem by military means, and this will mean "a rocket attack on Tel Aviv by Hezbollah" сообщает Ynet.
