New York hospitals crippling patients at an alarming rate

The State Department of Health noted 52 hospitals where patient infection exceeds the average. 15 of them are in New York.
It turns out that “the longer a person stays in the hospital, the higher the overall risk of contracting an infection,” says a report on hospital-acquired infections based on 2015 data.
Bacterial infections can be fatal due to increased drug resistance.
“Infections are much more serious because antibiotics don’t work. We must reduce drug-resistant infections,” said Betsy McCoy, who sits on the Committee to Reduce Deaths from Infection.
The list includes the following hospitals:
- Brooklyn Medical Center SUNY Downstate.
- Metropolitan Hospital in East Haarlem.
- Elmhurst Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx.
- Woodhull hospital in brooklyn.
Private hospitals are also listed.
- Mount sinai hospital in Manhattan.
- Morgan Stanley / NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital in brooklyn.
- Brookdale hospital in the Bronx.
- Lebanon hospital in Queens.
- Flushing Hospital and John's Episcopal in Far Roquay.
The state health department will motivate hospitals to improve the situation.
“New York State will continue its efforts to help hospitals reduce infection rates and improve patient outcomes,” said spokesman Ben Rosen.
Brian Conway from the lobby group Greater New York Hospital Association, said that “hospitals are introducing new tools and protocols to meet the needs of caring for patients with immunodeficiency. They will never cease to strive to reduce the incidence of disease. "
