New York tap water recognized as the best in the region

The quality and taste of New York tap water has once again received recognition at the regional level - tap water entering the apartments of residents of the largest American metropolis won first place in the Regional Metro Tap Water Taste Test competition.

Visitors to the American Museum of Natural History, where the competition was held, tasted tap water from five counties in New York, including Westchester, Nassau, Suffolk and Orange, and then ranked them to taste. New York water won the unconditional first place in the regional competition.

According to the city department of environmental protection, New York tap water has been famous for its quality for a long time. New York is one of five major American cities where most of the water does not go through the chlorination process, thanks to the implementation of numerous programs to protect the catchment area. Since 1993, the city has invested over $ 1,7 billion in these programs. In addition, urban environmentalists conduct more than 500 thousands of analyzes of drinking tap water from all city sources — reservoirs, aqueducts, and numerous test points located in all five boroughs of New York. .

New York tap water is a great alternative to harmful "soda", because unlike them, it does not contain sugar, calories and salt. In addition, drinking tap water does not hit New Yorkers wallets at all: given that one gallon of water costs about one penny, such water costs 1000 times cheaper than bottled water.

The next stage of the competition, now at the level of the entire state of New York, will take place on September 2 in Syracuse, and, apparently, New York has every chance of winning - especially since the city has already won this competition in 2008.
