New York has become the best technology city in the world, beating Silicon Valley
Amazon executives seemed to know something, choosing New York as one of the winning sites for their second headquarters. It was New York that went around the southern area of San Francisco Bay, also known as Silicon Valley, becoming the best technology community in the world.
According to a new report released by real estate broker Savills PLC, for the first time in the history of research, New York was rated as No. 1 for technological indicators among the largest cities in the world 30, writes Fox Business.
“New York has become the top tech city in this year's ranking, surpassing San Francisco. Access to a deep talent pool and the city's reputation as a global trade hub make New York a global leader,” Savills said in a press release.
To determine the rating, the group measures each city on 100 individual indicators, ranging from the volume of domestic venture capital investments, the total infrastructure, and ending with the cost of a cup of coffee. So researchers find out which city really represents the best place for technology companies.
Savills added that, although this year’s list was headed by two US cities, there were five cities in mainland China. In various Chinese cities, at present, the proportion of venture investments is higher than in the USA. For example, in Beijing over the past three years, 34 has recorded an average billion dollars in venture capital investments, which is higher than in both New York and San Francisco.
