What is causing the symptom?

The Symptom Study researchers explained: “We know that the COVID-19 virus infects the tissues of our respiratory system, of which the vocal apparatus (larynx) is a part. This explains why some infected people have a hoarse voice. ”

They add: "While this is not a particularly reliable predictor of COVID-19, if you have an unexplained hoarse voice, we believe you should take a test to be sure."

You should also take the test if you find:

• heat;
• chills or shivering;
• persistent cough;
• loss or change in smell;
• loss or change in taste;
• headache;
• sore throat;
• skin rash;
• “Covid tongue” (British doctors refer to this as a swollen tongue with small pimples, as well as mouth ulcers).

If you have any of the main symptoms of COVID-19, you are advised to have a PCR test to identify the virus as soon as possible. Until you get your test result, you and everyone you live with need to stay at home and not be in contact with outsiders.
