New Xiaomi smartphones will compete with the iPhone 6

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi introduced two new devices in Beijing - Mi Note and Mi Note Pro, which can compete with Apple's sixth iPhone model.

Company director Lei Jun, introducing the new Mi Note smartphone, said that it is thinner and lighter than the iPhone 6 Plus.

With a diagonal of the screen in 5,7, the thickness of the phone is 6,95 mm with a weight of 161 g. This is 1,05 mm thinner than the iPhone 6 Plus, and 11 g lighter.

The basic Mi-Note device with 16 GB memory capacity is equipped with a Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3 GB of RAM. It will cost 2299 yuan (371 dollar), which is half the price of the Samsung 6 Plus iPhone and Galaxy Note 4.

According to analysts, in 2014, Xiaomi has become the fastest growing phone company.

Both models are equipped with two Sony cameras with 13 megapixels and 4 megapixels.

Unlike the basic Mi Note, which goes on sale immediately, MiNote Pro with more advanced technical specifications will be available only at the end of March.

With a screen resolution of 2560x1440 (515 pixels per inch), Mi Note Pro will operate on the basis of a more powerful eight-core Snapdragon 810 processor. RAM is increased to 4 GB, and the size of the internal memory will be 64 GB.

Purchase Mi Note Pro will be for 3299 yuan (532 dollar).

Tough competition

Vie Tek Lu, head of consumer electronics research at Euromonitor consulting company, said that the new flagship smartphones would have to compete with similar devices from Apple and Samsung, which are still ahead of Xiaomi in sales in the world.

“The new models are definitely better than their predecessors in all respects. It was necessary for Xiaomi to update its line of devices in order to keep up with competitors,” he said.

“Xiaomi undoubtedly outperforms its rivals when it comes to pricing,” the expert added.

Last year, the company overtook Samsung in sales in China, which is the largest smartphone market.
