New Housing Lottery Rules in New York to Make Immigrants Easy
Now applicants will have the opportunity to provide a rental payment history instead of checking their credit history, which will greatly simplify the application process for immigrants.
The New York City Department of Building and Urban Development (HPD) and Housing Development Corporation (HDC) have announced that an application for the Housing Lottery is currently requiring applicants to submit an 12-month rental payment history instead of having their homeowner check their credit stories. This means that applicants will not need to provide a social security number or an individual tax identification number for each adult in the family, which will allow immigrants to apply for lotteries.

The new rules also include an increase in the number of residents in the apartment, which expands the range of apartment sizes that families can apply for.
The updates also now correspond to the recently adopted new package of rental laws, which limits the fee for checking the credit history of $ 20 for the application and will allow applicants to submit documents with the results of the inspection they ordered, previously it could only be done by landlords.
