Police arrived at the Plaza Hotel, where Spitzer rented a corner 1541 room located at the end of a long corridor, on a call from Svetlana Travis, who on the phone said she needed help because she had cut her wrist.

The door of the room was opened by the former governor, who told the cops that there were no problems, that everything was already in order. Noticing anything strange, the police did not log in, but then called Travis on a mobile phone to make sure everything was in order.

The girl assured the dispatcher that all problems have been resolved.

However, these assurances did not reassure the police, and they again visited Spitzer’s room. This time they were able to see blood stains, bloody clothes and shards of glass on the floor. Travis was at that moment in the bathroom. When she appeared, the police called an ambulance, which took the girl to Mount Sinai West Hospital.

At the hospital, Travis told the medical staff who assisted her that she had been attacked by Spitzer. According to her, she has long been Spitzer's mistress. That evening they met in one of the hotel’s bars, and then Spitzer decided to rent a room where they went.

The scandal erupted after the girl told Spitzer that she was going to return to Russia. This news infuriated Togo, he pounced on Travis, strangled him, then threw him on the floor and began to threaten her.

Travis managed to wriggle out, smashed a glass, and with a shattered glass cut her wrist, then called 911.

She also stated that she was not going to press charges against her boyfriend, but intended to leave for Russia. According to unconfirmed information, she has already left the country.
