New death in Dominicana: the mother of three children from Pennsylvania died in the resort

42-year-old yoga teacher from Pennsylvania died this week in the Dominican Republic, becoming the eighth victim in a series of American deaths in this island nation.

However, this time the death was not mysterious - the woman was carried out to sea by a strong current, writes The New York Post.

The body of Shurley Miller was discovered by a local fisherman on June 12 after she disappeared the day before from the beach in Cabarete.

According to police, on Tuesday, the mother of three children decided to swim, went into the water, but the strong coastal current carried her more than two miles away (3,2 km) from the coast.

Miller owned a studio called Surely Yoga in Slushington, Pa., Where she also conducted lessons that “are designed to help others know and heal their bodies.”

The site says that she previously studied in New York, Miami, Orlando, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Another studio in Pennsylvania where she taught Tribe Yoga confirmed her death in a post on Facebook.

“Tomorrow we will honor our beloved friend and teacher Shurley Miller,” the studio said in a June 12 post, adding that they intended to hold a lesson “dedicated to her beautiful spirit.”

Friends and students of the woman also expressed condolences on social networks.

“It's just heartbreaking. Shurley Miller was full of love and life. She will be greatly missed,” Rebecca Olesen wrote on Facebook.

Friends of the deceased launched a page on the portal GoFundMe for raising money for Miller's three sons: 15-year-old Dylan, 13-year-old Miles and 10-year-old Preston.

“Shurli has blessed so many of us with her warm, healing touch, and the best thing we can do for her now is take care of her children,” the page reads.
