A Venezuelan opposition figure offered to share her peace prize with Trump; the Nobel Committee rejected her offer.
The Nobel Peace Prize organizers stated that the award "cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred." The clarification came in response to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado's proposal to give her award to Donald Trump, writes The Guardian.
When Machado was announced as the Nobel Peace Prize laureate in October, it was seen as a jab at the White House, though she was quick to dedicate the award to the US president and his "unwavering support for our cause."
Trump has never hidden his strong desire to win the Nobel Peace Prize, the winner of which is chosen by an independent five-member committee in Oslo.

After the US launched airstrikes and a raid in Venezuela that led to the capture of its leader, Nicolás Maduro, Machado said she wanted to give the award to Trump on behalf of the Venezuelan people.
"What he did was a historic step. It's a huge step toward democracy," she added.
Asked whether he would accept the Nobel Peace Prize from Machado, Trump, who said he plans to meet her in Washington this week, said: "It would be a great honor."
However, the Norwegian Nobel Committee and the Norwegian Nobel Institute subsequently issued a clarification that such a transfer of the award was not possible.
"Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, divided, or transferred to other persons. The decision is final and remains in effect in perpetuity," the statement reads.
Neither Alfred Nobel's will nor the statutes of the Nobel Foundation contain any provisions for the possibility of revoking the Nobel Prize, they said, citing the statute, which states: "No action may be taken against the decision of the Prize Committee in Stockholm or Oslo."
None of the Nobel Prize committees has ever considered revoking an award, they added, emphasizing: "In principle, the Norwegian Nobel Committee never comments on what Peace Prize laureates say or do after they have been awarded the prize."

Machado, who left Venezuela in December for Oslo to attend the Nobel Prize ceremony, has spoken out in support of Trump's military intervention in Venezuela and the ouster of Nicolás Maduro.
For now, the head of the White House has refrained from supporting her candidacy for the post of head of the country and has placed his bet on Washington's support for Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.
