An unforgettable sight: the fabulously beautiful jacaranda bloomed in Los Angeles

The jacaranda (also called the violet tree) is actually a cherry tree with a mesmerizing appearance and scent that has become one of the most recognizable trees in Los Angeles.

For residents living on the streets where the jacaranda trees are in bloom, this season is a mix of love and hate. The bright color of the trees makes the avenue surreal and very beautiful - as if you were in another world. But it also creates chaos: the stickiness of aphids covering every car, the slippery mess of fallen petals on the sidewalk. Overall, they are nice to look at if they are not in your own yard.

Exotic jacaranda mimosifolia originated in South America, in places such as Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia, and came to California with the help of the legendary gardener Keith Sessions. In 1892, she transformed 32 acres of barren urban land in San Diego into a lush and colorful landscape. Once she proved that plants could thrive in the new environment, they quickly grew in the surrounding area.

According to a map compiled by LA Times reporter Matt Stiles, the best place to catch the bloom is Westwood from April to June. Although now they can be seen almost anywhere, including Venice, Coreytown, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
