A new outbreak of coronavirus recorded in China: 108 million quarantined people

In the north-west of China, a new outbreak of COVID-19 was recorded. To prevent the spread of coronavirus, authorities imposed quarantine on the territory with a population of 108 million people. Writes about it ZN.

Since May 18, quarantine restrictions have been in force in Jilin and Liaoning provinces. The cities of Shulan and Jilin, the administrative center of the province of the same name, are called the center of the new outbreak.

The authorities of the PRC admit that coronavirus could be brought into this region by people who returned from Russia: the Jilin province borders the Primorsky Territory of the Russian Federation.

In cities, for the time of quarantine, the movement of public transport was restricted, the entrances and exits from the city were closed, and residents were forbidden to leave their homes without permission. Six officials were fired in Shulan, including the head of the city committee of the Communist Party of China.

Cases of coronavirus infection in Jilin were recorded two weeks ago. As of May 18, COVID-19 was diagnosed to 34 Jilin residents. In neighboring Liaoning, three were identified.

Dr. Zhong Nanshan, senior medical adviser to the PRC government, confirmed on the eve of the threat of the second wave of the pandemic, as most Chinese have no immunity to coronavirus.

May 3, US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada intelligence published a joint report, which refers to the responsibility of the PRC for the spread of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Official Beijing withheld information that coronavirus is transmitted from person to person, forbade the transfer of SARS-CoV-2 samples to Western virologists, and repressed doctors who tried to draw attention to the new disease.

The authors of the report did not agree on the place where the pandemic originated. Australia believes that the virus began to spread from the wildlife market in Wuhan, the United States insists: it was a leak from the Institute of Virology.

President of the United States Donald Trump claims to have coronavirus leak evidence. The White House ordered intelligence agencies to investigate all reports of contamination cases, satellite images, and other data to determine whether China and WHO were hiding information.

And US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo accused the World Health Organization of failing to tame the pandemic. April 15, the United States announced discontinuation of WHO funding.

In turn, China claimed that coronavirus was brought into the country from the United States.
