Coronavirus isolation mode introduced in California: where residents can go

Despite the seemingly severe restrictions, there are a number of exceptions, Newsom said.

Important trips include grocery shopping, gas stations, farmers' markets, food banks, convenience stores, banks and laundry machines.

In California, which, along with Washington and New York, is among the states most affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States, there are about 1000 confirmed cases of potentially fatal upper respiratory infections. Nineteen people in the state died from COVID-19.

Newsom previously reported that, according to official forecasts, up to 56% of the state’s residents could be infected with the virus, which will amount to more than 22 million people.

However, he said at a press conference: "The meaning of the isolation order is to reduce these numbers."

According to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the total number of cases in the US has exceeded 14. However, officials believe that due to the lack of test kits and the relatively small number of people tested, the number of infections is much higher.
