USCIS prolongs closure of its offices due to coronavirus: what you need to know

From March 18, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) suspended services at their offices, asylum offices, and immigrant support centers until April 1 to help slow down the spread of coronavirus. March 25, USCIS extended the closing date, as reported in the press release of the service.

USCIS offices will open on April 7 unless public closure orders are expanded. Originally as wrote ForumDaily, it was about closing until April 1. Reportedly, office employees continue to provide services that do not require personal contact with visitors.

USCIS will send notifications to applicants about scheduled meetings and naturalization ceremonies. USCIS offices will send interview cancellation notifications and automatically transfer the interview to asylum.

After postponing the interview, asylum seekers will receive a new notification of the interview indicating the new time, date and place of the interview.

When USCIS resumes normal operation, appointments will be automatically rescheduled - everyone will receive meeting letters in the mail. Persons who had InfoPass or other appointments should reschedule their appointments through USCIS Contact Centeras soon as field offices are reopened to the public. Please check if your local branch is open before contacting the contact center.
