Russia sold US medical equipment for coronavirus, calling it 'humanitarian aid'
US State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus said that the medicines and medical equipment that were delivered to New York on Wednesday by a Russian transport plane were “purchased” by the United States authorities from Russia, reports “Present Tense«.
“Following a telephone conversation on March 30 between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, the United States agreed to purchase necessary medical equipment from Russia, including ventilators,” Ortagus wrote on social media.

According to her, both personal protective equipment and devices for artificial lung ventilation were purchased. The statement does not say anything about the volume of purchases and the cost of what was delivered.
Two days ago, Trump also said that during a telephone conversation he agreed with Putin on the delivery of Russian medical equipment to the United States.
But at the same time, Russian state media, in particular Vesti, called the supplies “humanitarian aid,” without indicating that the United States paid for it. The same phrase was used by the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov:
“On the Russian side, against the backdrop of a difficult epidemiological situation, America was offered assistance in the form of medical equipment and protective equipment. Trump accepted this humanitarian assistance with gratitude,” Peskov said.

Previously, the Kremlin, state media and pro-Kremlin bloggers similarly used for propaganda the trip of Russian military medical personnel to Bergamo and other Italian cities with a large number of coronavirus cases. The trip was also described as a "humanitarian aid" and was "received with gratitude" by the Italian authorities.
