The Diamond Princess cruise ship left Yokohama on January 20, traveled along the route Kagoshima - Hong Kong - Okinawa and returned back on Monday. By this time, several people began to complain of illness, and the authorities decided to examine everyone on board.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan, in 10 people, doctors revealed pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus. According to authorities, they could have been infected by a passenger from Hong Kong.

According to the carrier, an 80-year-old man who flew to Japan by plane was aboard the Diamond Princess from January 20 to 25. When he was in Hong Kong, he discovered a coronavirus.

Authorities report that all passengers on the ship who were diagnosed with the virus were hospitalized in a hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Diamond Princess liner operator сообщает on his website that with a confirmed diagnosis three Japanese were hospitalized, three Chinese citizens, two Australians and one citizen of the United States and the Philippines each.

Four of the sick people are between 50 and 60 years old, four more are between 60 and 70, one is over 70 and one is over 80. None of them are in serious condition.

In total, according to the cruise line, there were 2666 passengers and 1045 crew members on board the Diamond Princess. About half of them are Japanese citizens, but there are also citizens of 56 other countries on the ship.

According to the Russian embassy in Japan, there are 24 Russian citizens on board the quarantined court.

“The Japanese Foreign Ministry informed the embassy that there are 24 Russian citizens on board the cruise ship. The embassy is in close contact with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Japanese Ministry of Health on this issue, and we are keeping the situation under control,” the diplomatic mission said.

Earlier it was about two Russians aboard the Diamond Princess.

The cruise ship operator emphasizes that quarantined passengers will be provided with everything they need - food, free Internet and telephone service.

One of the passengers on Twitter posts photos and videos of what is happening on the liner.

“Guests will continue to be provided with free internet access to keep in touch with family and friends, and the ship's crew is working to ensure that all guests have a comfortable experience,” the cool company said in a statement.

In addition, Hong Kong announced that they were checking approximately 1800 passengers from a separate cruise ship arriving from Wuhan after some people reported that they had fever and other symptoms of the virus, writes Fox News.

According to the city’s health department, about 90% of passengers on the World Dream ship were from Hong Kong. Three people contracted the virus after they were on the ship from January 19-24. On Tuesday, February 4, the ship was denied entry to Taiwan, and it is unclear how long the passengers will be in quarantine.
