Several drones attacked Moscow: residential buildings damaged

In Moscow on May 30 early in the morning they announced a drone attack. UAVs crashed into high-rise buildings of the capital of the Russian Federation, and also flew around Moscow, reports with the BBC.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin confirmed eyewitness reports of drones crashing into three apartment buildings in the south-west of the city, and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov confirmed air defense and drones shot down on approach to the capital. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that eight UAVs participated in the attack, five of them were shot down. Reports of the attack came amid massive shelling of Kyiv for the third day in a row. Drones flew to Moscow before - they attacked Kremlin in early May.

The Mayor of Moscow wrote on May 30 in the morning in the telegram channel that as a result of the UAV attack, minor damage had occurred in several buildings, the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.

“This morning, residents of some areas of the Moscow region could hear the sounds of explosions - this is our air defense. On approaching Moscow, several drones were shot down. I ask the residents to remain calm, ”wrote the governor of the Moscow region.

Drones in Moscow and Moscow region

Residents of the Moscow region found it difficult to remain calm, as they woke up from the sounds of explosions. Videos with flying aircraft-type drones appeared on Telegram channels and social networks. Reports of explosions and alleged air defense activity came from Odintsovo, Barvikha, Krasnogorsk and other places located in the immediate vicinity of Moscow.

In total, drones hit three residential buildings in Moscow: on Profsoyuznaya Street, on Atlasova Street in New Moscow and on Leninsky Prospekt - all outside the Moscow Ring Road.

According to local Telegram channels, at first (at about 4:30 am) explosions were heard along Atlasova Street in New Moscow. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on the 25th floor. As a result, windows shattered in several apartments nearby.

“The reason for the explosion in a high-rise building in New Moscow, previously, could be a UAV. At the time of the incident, there were three people in the apartment on the 25th floor - two adults and a five-year-old child. They left the house on their own, ”writes the Mash Telegram channel.

Subsequently, fragments similar to parts of a drone were found at the scene of the incident, after which the area was cordoned off, reports TSN.

Another drone previously crashed into a high-rise building in Moscow on Profsoyuznaya Street. Residents were evacuated there. As it became known, the UAV flew into the window on the 16th floor, the windows were damaged.

The attack in Moscow did not end there. A drone also crashed into a high-rise building on Leninsky Prospekt. Its fragments flew into the window of one of the apartments. After that, about 300 people were evacuated from the house.

The residents of the Moscow region also felt the attack. There, the drone first noticed in the sky over the village of Peskovo, reports RBC. Two more drones were shot down in the Istra district of the Moscow region with a difference of half an hour. They allegedly flew from the elite village of Benelux towards Krasnogorsk.

After that, residents of Krasnogorsk and Odintsovo reported about the sounds of explosions. According to them, smoke is visible in the sky over Krasnogorsk, and windows were shaking in the houses. In the area of ​​Krasnogorsk, another drone was later noticed. But he was allegedly "shot down". In total, three UAVs were recorded in the area. One is in the sky over the village of Funkovo, the second is over the village of Kezmino, the third is over the village of Romashkovo.

Interestingly, the air defense was not even so reliable in the elite Rublyovka, located 20 km from Moscow, where officials and other rich people live.

Some Russian publics draw attention to the fact that areas inhabited by people close to dictator Vladimir Putin have come under drone attack. We are talking about the prestigious southwestern microdistricts. In the suburbs - Rublevskoe highway and its environs, where oligarchs and officials live. At the same time, one of the drones fell in the village of Ilinskoye - just 3 kilometers from the residence of President Putin in Novo-Ogaryovo.

According to the telegram channel Base, in total there were 25 drones in the attack. Most allegedly "were shot down in the suburbs."

The Russian Ministry of Defense later stated that Kiev launched a “terrorist attack” by unmanned aerial vehicles “on facilities in the city of Moscow.”

According to the Russian military department, eight aircraft-type drones were involved in the attack.

News of the drones crashing into residential buildings and downing them came from Moscow as Kyiv was under heavy air strikes for the third night in a row. This is already the 17th attack since the beginning of the month, but their scale has increased.

On the night of May 28, authorities announced that the attack, involving more than 50 Shahed kamikaze drones, was the most massive attack since the start of the war, killing one person. On the night of May 29, in addition to drones, rockets were used, there were no casualties.

On the night of May 30, Russia used at least 20 drones to attack Kyiv, they were shot down, city officials said. In the Goloseevsky district, due to the fall of debris on a multi-storey residential building, a fire broke out on the last two floors. According to preliminary information, one person died and three were injured. The Russian Defense Ministry did not comment on this.

On the eve of Kyiv was shelled not only at night, but also during the day. The head of the military intelligence department of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, commenting on the daytime shelling of Kyiv, threatened to answer him. “All those who tried to intimidate us, dreaming that it would bring some kind of effect, you will very soon regret it. Our answer will not keep you waiting. Soon everyone will see everything, ”he said. And the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, asked himself on television the day before: if the Russians can make Kyiv a nightmare, why are the residents of Moscow “resting”?

In Kyiv, the morning attack on Moscow has not yet been officially commented on. However, on the air of the Breakfast show YouTube channel, Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, said that in Ukraine they “look with pleasure” at what is happening and predict an increase in the number of attacks, although Kiev “of course has nothing to do with them.”

Podolyak later added that “not all drones are ready to attack Ukraine and want to return to their creators.”

“They want to go back to their creators and appropriately ask the question: “Why are you sending us to beat the children of Ukraine, Kiev and so on? And the second aspect is important. All the people who believe that they can play a one-sided game, that it will be possible to destroy another sovereign state with absolutely impunity... After 15 months, they did not understand what they would not have in the 14th year? No signing of the separation line… Each of them will be responsible in full,” Podolyak said.

Answering the question whether Ukraine is related to today's attacks on Moscow, the adviser to the head of the OPU said that “the country is related to artificial intelligence,” but not directly related to the attacks.

The reaction of the Kremlin

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the new drone attack on Moscow: “It is clear that we are talking about the response of the Kyiv regime to our very effective strikes on one of the decision-making centers. This strike is this Sunday.”

Peskov did not elaborate on which decision-making center he was referring to, adding that President Vladimir Putin had received early morning information about the attack from the Defense Ministry, the Emergencies Ministry, Mayor Sobyanin and Governor Vorobyov. When asked if Putin's address on this matter is planned, he replied that so far "there are no special plans."

According to Peskov, he cannot comment on the security of Moscow, but nevertheless expressed the opinion that the air defense system worked well. “We know that, thank God, there are no casualties. And at present there is no threat to the inhabitants of Moscow and the Moscow region, ”Interfax quotes him.
