'Unusual and disturbing behavior': the United States accused Russia of pursuing an American satellite

The US Space Forces General said that Russian satellites are chasing one of the most powerful American reconnaissance satellites, writes Fox News.

Top U.S. Space Force commander Gen. John "Jay" Raymond said two Russian satellites are "on the tail" of the advanced U.S. spy vehicle and at times pass within 100 miles (160 km) of the billion-dollar spacecraft.

General Raymond said that the Russian satellite, which later split into two, was launched in November, and called its movements "unusual and disturbing."

"There is the potential to create a dangerous situation in space," he said, while other experts expressed concern about what Moscow might learn from close-up photographs of the spacecraft.

The Trump administration recently requested a defense budget that will keep contingencies at $ 705 billion. The space forces will receive $ 15,4 billion from this funding and start by hiring 6400 US Air Force personnel.

Time magazine's report illustrates an almost scientific case of alleged space espionage. According to reports, in November last year, Russia launched a satellite into orbit, and while in orbit, it split into two separate satellites. One expert compared this to a “Russian nesting doll”.

The Kremlin insisted that the satellites were just doing experiments. The amateur satellite tracker used publicly available data to theorize that Russian satellites were “smartly designed” to observe the US satellite during complex visual moments in orbit, such as sunrises.

“It is clear that Russia is developing capabilities in orbit that seek to exploit our dependence on the space systems that fuel our American way of life,” Ramond told Time.
