Illegal, deported 6 times from the USA, can be executed
An illegal immigrant who was deported six times could be sentenced to death if convicted of the brutal murder of three men beaten with a baseball bat, police said on Wednesday.
47-year-old citizen of El Salvador was arrested on Monday in Santa Monica after he allegedly attacked a homeless person. Escobar was charged with three murders, five assassination attempts and four second-degree robberies, the Los Angeles District Attorney reported.
“This is a violent predator,” Capt. William Hayes of the LAPD said Wednesday. “He just violently attacks people with a baseball bat.”
Escobar, who, according to the police, was homeless at the time of his arrest, has a criminal history, and he was repeatedly deported. He was not presented with an arrest warrant, however, after 30 August was interrogated after his aunt disappeared and released, he went to Houston and a few days later attacked the first victim in Santa Monica. Police said the victim had suffered from brute force.
Two days later, police said Escobar attacked another man in Santa Monica and left the victim in a coma. Escobar went to the Los Angeles area in the city center and attacked three more homeless people. Police said two of the men who were beaten by the attack in the center of the city died.
20 September he returned to Santa Monica, where he robbed and beat to death another person. Escobar also allegedly attacked the eighth man.
The man has six criminal sentences for burglary and unlawful return. In 1998, he was deported from the USA, and from 1997 to 2011, the year was sent to El Salvador 6 times.
However, he won an appeal in an immigration court in December 2016 of the year and was released from ICE custody in a “supervisory procedure” in January 2017, said ICE agency spokesman Paige Hughes.
Separately, Escobar was convicted in May for an attack in Texas.
A man is considered an interested person in the disappearance of Dina Escobar and her brother Rogelio Escobar.
The Los Angeles District District Attorney said that the case is still under investigation.
