'Didn't want to deliver': FedEx driver threw away 400 packages worth tens of thousands of dollars

The former delivery driver has been charged with throwing away hundreds of FedEx boxes found in Alabama. Writes about it NBC News.

Blount County Sheriff Mark Moon said the 22-year-old driver faces five charges of dumping a load that was discovered on the eve of Thanksgiving.

Moon explained that the driver was a FedEx contractor and was in mourning because someone in his family had recently died.

“He seemed very upset and immediately spoke about the difficult times in his life and also admitted that he had made the wrong choice,” Moon noted.

He said that this man had confessed and was ready to help the investigation. On the same day he was taken into custody.

From fishing Moon, on the eve of about 400 boxes were found in a ditch near the town of Hayden. The next morning, FedEx took them away with them, and 153 packages were scanned and their intended recipients identified.

Moon said the 247 packages could not be identified due to missing or illegible barcodes or addresses. and said that the total value of these goods is about $ 24.

The man dropped off the packages five times over a five-day period, from Nov. 17 to Nov. 23, the sheriff said.

“He told the investigator that he didn’t steal anything, but just unloaded the packages because he didn’t want to deliver them,” Moon explained.

The sheriff noted that cargo theft is a Class D felony, the lowest level of felony in Alabama.

“I hope this will be one of those very hard life lessons that he will learn from his life and be able to move on with his life,” the sheriff concluded.
