Floods and tornadoes: storm Mindy hit the south of the USA
The Mindy Tropical Depression caused heavy rains in southern Georgia and parts of South Carolina on Thursday 9 September. It can cause flash floods and several tornadoes. CNN.
Mindy, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday afternoon, September 8, and came ashore over the island of St. Vincent, Florida, turned into a tropical depression when it reached southern Georgia.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Mindy maintains wind speeds of 35 miles (56 km) per hour.

Heavy rain is expected to be the main threat. And on the morning of September 9, flash flood warnings went into effect in parts of Florida and southern Georgia in the morning.

The storm is capable of causing 2 to 6 inches (5-15 cm) of rain in parts of southern Georgia and coastal South Carolina, which can lead to flooding.
Tropical wind gusts of at least 39 miles (62 kilometers) per hour are likely near Mindy in parts of southeast Georgia, the hurricane center said.

“Tornadoes are possible in parts of northern Florida and far south Georgia,” the hurricane center warned.
Since the storm was developing very close to land, Mindy had limited time to gain strength.
