The population of New York has reached a historic high
The population of New York has reached a historical maximum in 8,6 million people, according to data from the US Census Bureau, writes NBC.
According to the census, in 2017 the population of New York was 8, Brooklyn had 622 people, Queens - 698, Manhattan - 2, Bronx - 648, Staten Island - 771 2.
The population of these five districts has increased from 5,5% since 2010, such an average annual growth has not been observed since half of the 20 of the century, when New York became the financial and cultural capital, when there was a boom in the industrial sector.
The Bronx was the fastest growing area in the state, where growth was 6,21% from 2010 to 2017 a year. This is where the 86 052 new residents are added. 144 071 new residents (growth 5,75%) arrived in Brooklyn during this period, 127 860 people grew X (5,73% growth) in Queens, 78 854 people (4,97%) went to Manhattan.
Meanwhile, most New York districts — 45 of 62 — have seen a decline in population from 2010 to 2017 a year.
In 2010, 42,2% of people lived in the five New York districts mentioned above, in 2017 - 43,4%.
