“Violates the laws of shamanism”: a shaman was detained in Russia, who went “to expel Putin”

“None of them introduced themselves, they didn’t explain anything to us. Everything was quiet and silent,” he said.

In response to a request from the BBC, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Buryatia, without specifying the person’s last name, reported the following: “On September 19, at the 202nd kilometer of the M-53 Baikal federal highway, police officers, on behalf of an investigator, detained a man born in 1958, who was in wanted for committing a crime on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).”

The message clarifies that the detainee is planned to be “transported on the next flight from Ulan-Ude to Yakutsk for investigative actions.” At the same time, a man named Alexander Gabyshev is not in the official database of people wanted by the police in Yakutia.

Alexander Gabyshev began his campaign in March this year and has already covered about 2800 kilometers. On 10 of September in Ulan-Ude, clashes took place between security officials and members of a popular gathering that began after the detention of two Gabyshev supporters.

Representative of the Buryat branch of the Yabloko party Natalya Semenova commented on his detention on Facebook.

Alexander Gabyshev’s current campaign against Moscow is not the first. Last year, a similar mission had to be aborted. Yakut journalists say that the first campaign was a test of strength, although Gabyshev claims that even then he was motivated by a protest against Putin.

The Yakut wanderer gained fame on social networks after speaking at a protest rally in Chita on June 12. There he called for the creation of people's assemblies, which would have the right to make decisions in the status of laws. “Remember, Putin is not your order,” Gabyshev concluded his short speech with these words.

On the border of Buryatia Gabyshev and supporters who joined him, a delegation of Buryat shamans was waiting. They reproached the Yakut colleague with the fact that, speaking with bellicose appeals, he violates the laws of shamanism.

Recall that the shaman from Yakutsk, Alexander Gabyshev, walks to Moscow across Russia to “Expel the evil spirit of Putin from the Kremlin”. According to him, God told him that "Putin is not a man, but a demon, and the shaman must expel him." The shaman specified that he had already begun to do this while his main actions were peaceful: public meetings and rallies. However, if this does not help, he is ready to apply “other methods”.
