Over the military bases of the United States spotted a reconnaissance aircraft of Russia

A Russian Aerospace Forces Tu-154M LK-1 aircraft made an observation flight over strategic American military bases and facilities in the western United States as part of the implementation of the international treaty on open skies, reported “Interfax»Informed source.

After taking off from the Great Falls, Montana airbase, an aircraft equipped with photographic and radar surveillance equipment for at least eight hours with a stopover for refueling at Travis, California, departed from closed areas of California and Nevada.

In particular, in California, a Russian military aircraft flew over Edwards Air Force Base, the 42nd US Air Force plant, where modernization and assembly of strategic aircraft is carried out, Vandenberg Air Force Base, where underground launchers of the US missile defense system are located, the US Navy base in San Diego and near other military installations, in Nevada - above Nellis and Creech air bases.

The flight was carried out at an altitude of only about four thousand meters.

As part of the open sky treaty, the US Air Force plane Boeing OC-135B conducted a series of observation flights over Siberia and the Far East at the end of February and the first half of March. An American military aircraft flew to perform a mission over the territory of Russia from an air base in Japan. Then he landed in Khabarovsk in order to take on board Russian observers.

During the flight along the agreed route, Russian specialists on board the observation aircraft monitored the strict observance of the agreed flight parameters and application of the monitoring equipment stipulated by the contract.

These flights were the first since November 2017 of the year. In February, Pentagon spokesman Jamie Davis noted that the long break between flights was due to tensions that arose in US-Russian relations.

In August 2017, it was reported that a Tu-154 aircraft of the Russian Ministry of Defense made an observation flight over the White House, the Capitol and the Pentagon in Washington - over a zone of special secrecy in the United States. Experts in Moscow then said that the flight of the Russian plane did not violate the provisions of the treaty.

Recall that in early March, a reconnaissance aircraft of the US Air Force flying over Russia. The flight took place within the framework of the contract on open skies.
