On the beaches of New Jersey banned smoking: violators are threatened with heavy fines

In the summer of 2019, the ban on smoking will be in effect on virtually all public beaches in New Jersey.

According to the law, which came into force in January 2019, smoking will be prohibited for both conventional and electronic cigarettes, writes Fox 5.

Non-smokers in the region support this innovation, which also extends to public parks. But some smokers said they felt discriminated.

Penalty violation penalties start from 250 dollars at the first violation and can reach 1000 dollars for those who get caught smoking on the beach or in the park three or more times.

New Jersey cities, according to the law, have the opportunity to allocate up to 15% of the beach as a smoking area. The City of Wildwood Crest in Cape May County plans to do this.

At least in the New Jersey coastal cities of 20 there have already been similar local bans. Across the country, more than 300 coastal settlements have banned smoking on their beaches.

Illinois, New York and California have the strictest smoking laws, although they are often passed at the local level and not at the state level, so bans in each city may differ. In these states it is difficult to find a place to smoke, even being on the street. Squares, parks, as well as embankments and beaches are recognized as zones where there is a ban on smoking.

Relatively soft laws about this in Florida. There you can smoke on the street, except in places where it is not directly prohibited. That is, if there is no sign that prohibits smoking, then there is no prohibition. Any restaurant and bar has the right to choose whether to allow visitors to smoke or not. Any owner or manager of a building or premises has the right to set smoking bans or not to have them.
