The decision, unexpected for many, provoked a strong approving reaction at the stadium. Then it became even more interesting.

After the hosts greeted the audience and announced the terms of the debate, the current president of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, unexpectedly went down from his stage (there were two at the stadium) and went in the direction of his opponent.

“Let's clap for the people who came by bus,” Zelensky said, hinting that Poroshenko had brought his supporters to the stadium.

But Poroshenko did not return to his stage - he went up to Zelensky.

The presenters noticed that this is a historical moment, but then it became even more interesting.

2. Two Poroshenko and "hello to Moscow"

Zelensky performs almost in the genre of stand-up. He says that the country sees two Petro Poroshenkos. One, a smart, educated financier who speaks well in front of cameras. The other is the real Poroshenko, who disappointed the Ukrainians, writes Air force.

“You call me a wrapper. I understand that you are well versed in wrappers,” Zelensky answered him, hinting at Poroshenko’s Roshen enterprise, which produces candies and cakes.

“Since 1998, you have been a deputy or some kind of official. Tell me, please, how did you become an oligarch during this time?” Zelensky says.

5. Chopped Hands Discussion

“Why do your supporters have two hands?” Zelensky asks Poroshenko, referring to his promise to cut off the hands of corrupt officials.

“Do you remember such a word as lustration? Why can your sweets be bought in Moscow? Is it true that your sweets are included in the rations of LPR and DPR fighters?”

Poroshenko says everything Zelensky says about him is a lie. When asked about the severed hands, he replies that he is “neither an executioner nor a judge,” and that if he finds out that his friend is a corrupt official, then this person will cease to be his friend.

“And when your business partner robbed Ukraine and withdrew $141 million to your offshore accounts, will you cut off his hands?” he asks Zelensky in response.

“And here’s the answer: it’s a bright wrapper, and inside there are fugitive oligarchs and Russians. And I will wait while you and your partners chop off each other’s hands.”

• Recall 31 March in Ukraine passed the first round presidential election. In total, the CEC of Ukraine registered record 39 candidates. The first round was won by Vladimir Zelensky, who scored more than 30% of votes. Poroshenko scored 15,93%.

• The second round of elections will take place on April 21.
• Team candidates. Poroshenko promised in case of re-election to replenish his team with "young, new people" and no longer appoint "no business partners, no close people."
• Until the last moment, one of the main complaints about Zelensky was that he did not disclose the composition of his team. But before the debate, he finally announced the list of people he plans to appoint if elected. The most famous of them - Alexander Danilyuk, who for two years was Minister of Finance under Poroshenko. He will be responsible for foreign, financial and banking policies. Others are either former officials holding secondary posts, or university professors and scholars, mostly lawyers.
