Elbrus flag raised
The Israeli national flag was raised to the top of Mount Elbrus in the first winter ascent of the highest mountain of the European continent.
The famous Israeli mountaineer, Nadav Ben-Yehuda, on Tuesday at 11: 00, in local time, raised the flag of the State of Israel at the top of Mount Elbrus, at an altitude of 5642 meters above sea level.
As reported on the Nadava Ben Yehuda project page on Facebook, “it was difficult to climb during the Russian winter.” The group of climbers had to overcome harsh conditions - 55 degrees below zero with wind speeds of 90 kilometers per hour or more.
Nadav became the first Israeli climber to complete a winter ascent of Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain on the European continent.
Nadav Ben-Yehuda became known due to an accident, which almost ended in tragedy.
At the end of May 2012, Nadav was only 300 meters from the top of Mount Chomolungma (Everest) when he saw a man in mountaineering equipment lying in the snow who asked for help. A climber from Turkey could not move independently due to his injury.
Nadav provided him with medical care using a personal medical bag. On the way to the top of Everest, he saved the lives of two more wounded climbers - citizens of Great Britain and Georgia.
He himself froze the phalanxes of his fingers during the ascent and subsequently hardly escaped amputation.
