The rental service Airbnb has expanded its functionality by offering users to book excursions and attend events from local residents. The head of the company, Brian Chesky, spoke about this at a presentation in San Francisco.

“Today we are launching Trips, a platform that will bring together places of residence, entertainment and people you meet. We want to return traveling element of magic, in the center of which are people, ”he said.

According to Cesky, now the locals will be able to give travelers not only their housing, but also share their experiences. For example, they may offer tourists to go on a trip on vintage cars or attend a concert of French chanson.

It is noted that even those resource users who do not rent their own property can become event organizers. It is emphasized that this is not about professional guides, but about those who are willing to share their own experiences.

The service also offered to take part in socially significant events, such as helping homeless dogs or a master class on the creation of objects of art from the trash. It is clarified that the money for them will be fully paid to the organizers, Airbnb will not charge commission fees. Another innovation was the recommendations, through which users can get tips on restaurants, nightclubs, attractions.

Currently, new services are available only in 12 cities: Detroit, Paris, Nairobi, Havana, San Francisco, Cape Town, Florence, Miami, Seoul, Tokyo and Los Angeles. In 2017, the list will be supplemented with 50 populated areas.

Airbnb is an online platform that hosts information about finding and short-term rental housing worldwide. The service operates in 34 in thousands of cities located in almost 200 countries.
