This incredible location is 13 miles (21 km) from California's Joshua Tree National Park and can be your travel base. The main dome is a bedroom with a queen-size mattress and sofa, while an adjoining secondary dome contains a toilet (propane heated shower; another toilet is outside). This whole structure is powered by the sun, and since this is a desert, there is plenty of sunlight here. Fortunately, a cooler will help you endure the heat. In the deserts it can get chilly at night depending on the season, so there is also a heater as well as a bed warmer.

Outside there is a stove, grill, chairs, a fire pit and a picnic table. There is even a wood-fired sauna at your disposal. It can take several hours to heat up, but that's only part of the joy of immersing yourself in nature and minding your own business.

It is possible to get spectacular wildlife sightings by being quiet and letting the creatures pass by, including the desert tortoise. During the day you can see typical squirrels, birds and lizards, and at night more interesting animals walk: scorpions, hares, coyotes and others. But you can also bring your pets: four-legged pets are allowed to live with you for a small additional fee.
