'We will strike in the head': Iran threatens the United States because of its presence in the Persian Gulf

The commander of the aerospace forces of the elite Iranian military formation noted that if earlier the US presence in the Persian Gulf was a threat, now "the threat has become an opportunity."

Iran will be ready to strike the United States because of their presence in the Persian Gulf. This was stated by the commander of the aerospace forces, the General of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Amir Ali Hadjizade, said RBC with reference to the TV channel Al Arabiya.

“An aircraft carrier with at least 40-50 aircraft and 6 servicemen was a serious threat to us in the past, but now <...> the threat has turned into an opportunity. <...> If the Americans make a move, we will hit them in the head, "he concluded, noting that the Iranian defensive capabilities are" adequate and sufficient, "and the US Navy's aircraft carriers are vulnerable.

According to him, the Americans will not use their aircraft carriers against Iran.

Earlier, on May 12, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington was preparing all the necessary diplomatic and military resources for a possible response if Iran took any hostile actions.

A week earlier, US National Security Adviser John Bolton announced Washington's decision to send an aircraft carrier group Abraham Lincoln and a task force of bombers to the shores of Iran. He stressed that this will be a "clear signal" for Tehran that "any attack on the interests of the United States <...> will be met with ruthless force."

• Sanctions apply to Iran itself, as well as to countries and companies trading with it. For China, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Italy and Greece, a temporary exception was made, the decision on the extension of which must be taken every 180 days.
• Greece, Italy and Taiwan have since refused to buy Iranian oil themselves. The rest were interested in extending the exemption.
• In April, 2019, the Trump decided not to extend the exception of oil sanctions against Iran for five countries and expand them for all countries importing Iranian oil. Exemption from sanctions for the purchase of Iranian oil has ceased to operate for China, India, Japan, South Korea and Turkey on May 2, the White House said.
