American lawyer hired lobbyists for Zelensky in the United States without his knowledge

American lawyer Marcus Cohen, who hired lobbyists from Signal Group Consulting LLC for 70 000 dollars to enhance the image of Vladimir Zelensky in the United States, said he did it "of his own free will." He told about this on August 7 in an exclusive interview with Radio Liberty over the telephone from Washington.

“It was my own initiative ... and I did it gladly,” Cohen said, adding that he did so after a short personal meeting with Zelensky in Kyiv during his presidential campaign. How did he manage to earn such a large amount of money, as he writes “Voice of America“Cohen did not elaborate.

In a commentary on Radio Liberty from Istanbul, Zelensky did not deny a meeting with Cohen, but stated that he did not remember exactly the meeting that the American was talking about. Once again, he emphasized that he did not require Cohen or anyone else to lobby him.

“I didn’t ask anyone for anything, no one offered me anything, I didn’t pay anyone, I didn’t take anything from anyone. I am a lobbyist myself,” Zelensky noted.

Marcus Cohen does not use social networks and has only a LinkedIn page with minimal information, so it was not easy to find. He stated to Radio Liberty that he had first heard about Zelensky and met with the chairman of his campaign, Ivan Bakanov, through a friend whom he did not name. Cohen added that he watched series "servants of the people" (series where Zelensky played a teacher who became president - ed.) On Netflix.

Employees of Signal Group Consulting LLC, with whom Radio Liberty correspondent managed to talk, confirmed that Cohen and Bakanov were together in Washington in the spring of 2019.

According to Signal Group Consulting documents, contract was signed 3 on April 2019. AT Annexes A and B the parties to the contract are indicated: Signal Group Consulting, LLC and “Vladimir Zelensky -“ Servant of the People ”, through the mediation of Marcus Cohen.” Marcus Cohen indicated his address as follows: Kiev, Bolshaya Vasilkovskaya, 72, Olimpiysky Shopping Center, 2 floor.

The purpose of the agreement: to raise the “image” of Vladimir Zelensky - “Servant of the People”.

21 May 2019 contract was officially closed.
