The Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco began to make eerie sounds: video report
Strange sounds coming from the bridge are not paranormal, writes CNET.
If you visit or live near the Golden Gate Bridge, you may notice some new unusual sounds coming from San Francisco's main landmark. While it may be fun to assume the mystical nature of the sounds, their real cause is quite mundane.
Recently, city authorities have installed new railings for bicycle paths on the bridge that can better withstand wind resistance. But no one expected that the wind passing through them would also create a tangible noise not only on the bridge itself, but also at a distance of many miles from it.
“Can someone tell me why this creepy sound has been going on for an hour in San Francisco?” one Twitter user asked.

When people living near the bridge posted on social media about hearing unusual noises, San Francisco 311, the city's official information and customer service center, posted an explanation.
“The low humming noise is associated with high winds blowing through newly installed roof rails along the bike path on the bridge,” the service said.
“The Golden Gate Bridge began to sing,” wrote Paolo Cosulich-Schwartz of the organization responsible for the bridge’s condition. “New musical tones emanating from the bridge are a known and inevitable phenomenon that occurs as a result of our modification in very strong winds.”
When the wind passes through the new railing, it turns the bridge into a giant reed tool.
“As part of the design process, the district conducted extensive research into the potential impacts of the project, including wind tunnel testing of a scale model of the Golden Gate Bridge in high winds,” Kosulich-Schwartz added. “The new upgrade was necessary to ensure the safety and structural integrity of the bridge.”

Officials say there are no planned solutions to the problem.
Some people even like these strange sounds, but many consider them "creepy."
“This is going to seriously freak people out. Possibly mine,” one person wrote.
“How beautiful ... as long as you are just visiting and do not live within earshot. This is driving me crazy! ”Another user commented.
Here are a few tweets from people who recorded the video with the sounds of the bridge.

“Engineers designed new sides for the sidewalk to help with wind resistance but didn't take into account the EXTREME sound it creates when wind passes through it.
