Frosts and a snow storm will hit the northern states of the United States in the coming hours.

Frost, strong wind and snow cover the northern part of the United States. Bad weather has already covered Oregon on Wednesday and is now moving to the east of the country, in the direction of the Great Lakes, reports CNN.

Weather forecasters predict a sharp cooling in most parts of the country, the thermometers will drop below zero, in some areas even below -10 degrees. Also, weather forecasters predict strong frosty winds that will affect 40 millions of people in various states.

In the vicinities of the Great Lakes a snow storm is expected, with a significant amount of precipitation. For example, in Minneapolis, weather forecasters immediately predict 20 centimeters of snow over the weekend.

New York and the city of Washington will experience a frosty weekend. In New York, a heavy wind gusts up to 100 kilometers per hour. The peak will be in the morning of Friday.

Authorities in many states are already warning that strong winds may primarily affect transport operations. In particular, delays in train movement are expected.
