Ice cream, pies and shrimp: hazardous products are recalled in the US
Price hikes and shortages continue, thanks to record inflation and ongoing supply chain problems. Unfortunately, there are still products that may not be available on your next supermarket trip. EatThis, NotThat!
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) have released information about new food recalls.
Ice cream sold in nine states has been seized from supermarket freezers.
Royal Ice Cream Company is warning customers of a recall that has been issued by the FDA. Some of these products may contain harmful Listeria bacteria.
No medical conditions associated with this recall have been reported. However, Listeria can cause serious infections in young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include diarrhea, headache, nausea, and stomach pain.

The goods were distributed to retail stores in nine states in the northeast and south, including Connecticut, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island, Texas and Vermont. Here is a list of affected brands:
- Batch brand pints, all flavors
- Royal Ice Cream brand half gallons, pints, cakes, all specialties
- Ronny Brook Ice cream, all flavor pints and 3 gallon tubs
- New Orleans Ice cream, all flavor pints and 2.5-gallon tubs
- Maple Valley Ice Cream, all flavor pints
- Art Cream all pint flavors
- Sweet Scoops Yogurt, all pint flavors
- Gelato Fiasco, all pint flavors
- Biggy Iggy's Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Munson Chip Wich Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Giffords Ice Cream Sandwiches, all flavors
- Chewy Louie Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Snow Wich Ice Cream Sandwiches
- Newport Creamery – Crazy Vanilla, Van & Choc, Vanilla & Coffee HG
"The company is testing the product prior to release, and the company is continuing to investigate what caused the issue," the recall notice reads.
If you have one or more of these products in your freezer, please return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
More than 1800 kg of chicken pies are also being recalled.
Creole-style frozen chicken pies from Great American Cobbler are being recalled due to brand issues. This product may contain soy not listed on the label. Any person with a soy allergy or sensitivity who consumes one of these products is at risk of a serious or life-threatening reaction.
The products were sent to retail stores in Georgia, Wisconsin, and Virginia. They were supplied in 900g boxes with lot codes 21231 or 21307. No adverse reactions have been reported at this time.

“FSIS is concerned that some products may be in consumers' freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them, the notice said. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
Nearly 21 packages of cooked shrimp may also contain Listeria.
About 20 packages of cooked frozen shrimp are also being recalled because they may contain Listeria, according to FoodPoisonJournal.com. Not many details are available, except that Fisherman's Wharf shrimp came in 830-ounce packages with the number 16 on them. They also had an expiration date of either 7306067/05.04.2023/06.04.2023 or XNUMX/XNUMX/XNUMX.

With the number of reviews released lately, it can be difficult to keep track of every product that is unsafe to consume. If you find a potentially hazardous product in your kitchen, throw it away immediately or return it to the store where you bought it.
