Monks of the Holy Trinity Monastery in New York complain of terror

The monks of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville, New York, said that they had been harassed for two years.

“Bullies are worn on the machines, shouting obscenity. They are parked in the parking lot in front of the bell tower of the monastery, they begin to buzz, they throw various objects at us ... This continues until three in the morning, ”he told the local cable channel Channel 2 monk Nikon (Provatakis).

“They are terrorists, local terrorists,” said the abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Luka (Murianka).

According to the monks, the persecution has recently intensified. The police often come, take testimony from violators and leave. There have been many cases of hacking in the territory of the monastery, which previously cultivated large agricultural land, and now leases the land to neighboring farmers.

The monks say that they hear shots near the monastery.

In church circles, the pressure on monks is attributed to the atmosphere of Russophobia, which allegedly intensified after the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States.

Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville - the spiritual center of the ROCOR. In the past, there was also the administrative center of the Church. But after the death of the primate of the church, Metropolitan Laurus (Shkurla), who was the abbot of the monastery, there is no bishop there, and activity has somewhat decreased. At the monastery there is a ROCOR seminary, a book publishing house, a candle shop and other institutions.
