US migration authorities have exhausted the limit for visa applications H2B
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reported that the maximum possible number of applications for a seasonal H2B work visa for the first half of the 2016 fiscal year was received.
Currently, the limit set by the US Congress is 66 thousand people per year, that is, 33 thousand for each half of the fiscal year (October 1 - March 31 and April 1 - September 30).
Applications for a non-immigrant visa H-2B, which will be valid after 1 April, were accepted until March 15.
From this point on, USCIS will only accept applications that do not fall under the limit set by Congress:
From workers who were previously counted as holders of H-2B visas to work in the United States in fiscal years 2013, 2014, and 2015 (category - Returning Workers);
From current H-2B visa holders who plan to extend their stay and, if possible, change the conditions of their employment or their employer;
From professionals who handle fish roe;
From workers who operate from November 28, 2009 of the year to December 31, 2019 of the Northern Mariana Islands and Guam.
The US Citizenship and Immigration Services warns that in order to speed up the H-2B visa process for returning workers, it is necessary to indicate the category “H-2B Returning Workers” on the envelope and enclose it filled in online form.
Detailed information on obtaining a working visa H-2B can be found on page uscis.gov/h-2b or call the service center 1-800-375-5283.
