In New York, employers were barred from asking about wages at a previous job

New York Mayor Bill de Blazio signed a decree that prohibits city departments and agencies when hiring employees to be interested in pay history. In other words, the previous salary level should not affect the employer's decision to apply for a job.

As noted in the press release of the mayor’s office, which was received today by ForumDaily, the decision should equate the rights of potential employees and make hiring more transparent.

The city mayor’s office also reported on other measures to protect the rights of workers. In particular, 500 thousand people have paid sick leave. The mayor’s office notes that during the program’s time, one and a half thousand employer companies that did not provide legal sick leave were fined $ 4 million.

Also paid leave for childcare. Employees of city departments received 6 weeks of vacation in order to be able to spend it with a newborn. In addition, the city authorities provide free pre-school education for children. This year, 70 thousands of babies have been registered in kindergartens.

The mayor’s office also emphasizes that the minimum wage rate for city workers has recently increased to $15 per hour.
