Melania Trump underwent surgery on the kidneys
First Lady Melania Trump 14 May underwent surgery on the kidneys at the National Military Medical Center Walter Reed in Maryland, reports CNN.
“Mrs. Trump completed an embolization procedure for the treatment of a benign neoplasm this morning. The procedure was completed successfully and without complications, ”said a spokeswoman for the first lady, Stephanie Grisha.
According to her, the president’s spouse will stay in the hospital for about a week, but is already looking forward to returning to her usual working rhythm.
During the procedure, President Donald Trump stayed in the White House, but he soon intends to visit her in the hospital.
Melania Trump, who turned 48 in her last month, became the first US First Lady to undergo such a serious medical procedure while she was in the White House, after Nancy Reagan, who underwent mastectomy in October 1987.
But before that, the first ladies went through several serious medical procedures.
Rosalynn Carter underwent surgery to remove a benign tumor from her chest in April 1977. A few weeks after Betty Ford became the first lady, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and in September 1974, a mastectomy was performed.
