The Daily Beast published Wolfe's statements but later apologized for them.
The first lady's lawyer demanded that Biden "immediately retract the false, defamatory, derogatory and inflammatory statements about Ms. Trump."

The 55-year-old son of 46th President Joe Biden spoke about it again on August 5 on Channel 5's Andrew Callaghan.
"They knew each other well, they spent a lot of time together," Hunter Biden said of Donald Trump and Epstein. "According to his biographer, Jeffrey Epstein introduced Melania, that's how... the first lady and the president met."
In a letter addressed to Biden Jr. and his longtime attorney Abba Lowell, the first lady's human rights lawyer Alejandro Brito called Biden's comments "false, defamatory and obscene."
"Given your extensive history of profiting personally from other people's names, including your own, it is clear that you published these false and defamatory statements about Ms. Trump to gain attention for yourself," he said.
The letter, dated Aug. 6, gave the younger Biden until Aug. 7 to comply.
As of the evening of August 13, this particular Channel 5 episode with Andrew Callaghan remained on YouTube.
"These false, derogatory, defamatory and inflammatory statements are highly inflammatory and have been widely disseminated across various digital media outlets," the first lady's lawyer said.
“Indeed, the video was subsequently published by various media outlets, journalists and political commentators with millions of followers on social media, who then reposted the false and defamatory claims contained in it to tens of millions of people around the world,” he continued.
"As a result, you have caused Ms. Trump enormous financial and reputational damage," Brito concluded.
The lawyer asked Biden to “immediately issue a full and honest retraction of the video and any other false, defamatory, derogatory, misleading and inflammatory statements about Ms. Trump in the same conspicuous manner in which they were originally published.”
According to Brito, the son of the 46th president should "immediately apologize for his false, defamatory, derogatory, misleading and inflammatory statements about Ms. Trump."
Eight days passed after the deadline specified by Brito.
In the letter, the lawyer warned that if Biden does not comply with the first lady's demands, "Mrs. Trump will have no choice but to assert her legal and fair rights, including by filing a lawsuit for over $1 billion in damages."
"Consider yourself officially warned," Brito concluded.
Melania Trump spokesman Nick Clemens added: "First Lady Melania Trump's attorneys are actively seeking immediate retractions and apologies from those spreading malicious, defamatory lies."
"The true story of how the First Lady met President Trump is told in her best-selling book, 'Melania,'" he said in a statement to the Daily Mail.
Since his father's departure from high office, Biden Jr. has given several interviews in recent weeks, starting with a three-hour chat for Callahan's YouTube show.
In that interview, Biden swore and explained how to make crack cocaine.
He later appeared again on Callahan's show and made controversial statements about the First Lady and Epstein.
The president has come under fire for failing to release more documents on the Epstein case, despite promising to do so before the election.
Wolf, whom Melania Trump's lawyer called a "serial fabricator," linked the first lady to the scandal.

Melania Trump has already successfully used threats of lawsuits to extract apologies from other prominent Democrats.
Last week, longtime Democratic strategist James Carville took to the stage on his Politics War Room podcast to say that comments he made about the first lady were false.
"We looked into what they complained about and removed the video and edited those comments out of the broadcast," Carville said. "I retract those statements and apologize."
