Harp's relationship with Trump was thrust back into the spotlight this week after Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff mentioned her in a viral speech criticizing Trump. The Georgia senator sarcastically noted "their trips with Natalie on a seemingly unprotected flying palace gifted by the Emir of Qatar"—referring to her presence alongside the president when he and a very limited group secretly left Turkey on a smaller plane in July due to threats from Iran.

The statement sparked a sharp reaction from the White House, which repeatedly called Ossoff a "cringe-worthy theater nerd" and a "weakling loser," and also sparked a wave of online discussion.

Harp's rapid rise to prominence within Trump's inner circle is largely due to her dedication to him since joining the team in 2022. Despite having no formal position on the campaign staff, she accompanied Trump around the country, regularly delivering positive news, social media posts, and other information, earning her the nickname "Human Printer" from allies.

One Republican lawmaker noted that while he sometimes reaches out to the president directly, he always makes sure Harp is aware of it.

"Natalie always responds. I don't understand how she manages it all," the source said, noting that in addition to relaying messages to Trump, his assistant often sends articles or memos to lawmakers on the president's behalf.

Since her arrival in the White House, Harp has become a constant presence, according to sources. She frequently appears in videos of document signings and events in the Oval Office, smiling or nodding as she listens to the president. During trips to rallies, Harp is a regular part of his inner circle of aides.

"Natalie works very quickly," Trump told allies after asking her to find or print something.

One source familiar with the situation said the aide's constant presence sometimes causes irritation in the White House, particularly among advisers who want to meet with the president alone but find Harp also present.

Another source said Harp, 35, insists under all circumstances that she reports only to Trump, and this irritates staffers working in official White House structures.

One administration official downplayed those complaints, saying Harp works well with most colleagues, helps formulate statements, and gets information to the right people.

In an August 18 statement, White House spokesman Davis Ingle also defended Harp, calling her "one of the most dedicated and hardworking aides on President Trump's team."

Other White House insiders condemned Ossoff's mention of Harp, saying it sent false signals about an aide who is largely unknown to voters and has done nothing to attract such attention. One source asserted that she and Trump have a "father-daughter" relationship.

But even among those long wary of her unusually large influence in the West Wing, there is no expectation that the new attention to the role will weaken her position.

Earlier this year, Trump sparked controversy by posting and then deleting a racist video depicting 44th President Barack Obama and then-First Lady Michelle Obama as monkeys in a jungle. The post drew criticism from politicians on both sides of the aisle, sparked a wave of negative coverage, and forced Trump and his team to urgently respond.

Trump's inner circle then speculated that Harp might have been behind the post, as she had access to Trump's Truth Social account.

As one source told CNN, they were hesitant to name her directly, as direct accusations could only further bolster Trump's support for Harp.
