12-year-old boy catches a great white shark while fishing in Florida

A 12-year-old boy from Massachusetts had an unforgettable experience - he caught a great white shark while fishing in Florida. The edition told in more detail People.

While fishing with his family in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Campbell Keenan caught a great white shark about 11 feet (3,35 m) long.

“It was a pretty measured day. We were fishing calmly, when all of a sudden there was a strong resistance. I thought this fish would suck me in,” he said.

According to his mom Colleen, they had to "hold on to him" to keep him from being thrown into the water.

“We held our son by his coat and saw sweat running down him,” she said. “His legs were shaking. I got scared."

Boat captain Paul Palucci helped the 12-year-old wrestle with a large fish, which took about 45 minutes.

After that, they tagged the shark and released it to freedom.

For the boy, the catch was a real achievement.

“I was very excited about this, because my son loves fishing more than anything, and this is the best thing that could have happened,” Colleen said. “Once we found out that it was a great white shark, we were very happy.”

“I always thought I could catch a decent fish, but not a great white shark,” the boy said.
