Makarevich compared the march for arms control with the first of May in the USSR

Andrei Makarevich, who is currently touring the United States with a concert by the Time Machine group, compared the gun control march he watched in Washington to the May Day demonstration in Soviet times. He wrote about his impressions on his page in Facebook.

March for our lives (“March for our lives”) grew out of a movement calling for legislative changes after 17 people perished as a result of an armed attack at a high school in florida last month.

“Huge demonstration in Washington. Against gun legalization, against killings in schools. However, Trump gets it too. From the White House to the Capitol, all the giant Pennsylvania Street and adjacent streets. The police are there, but not involved. There are no paddy wagons. Scenes, speeches, music. Lots of homemade posters. The mood is reminiscent of May 1 in Soviet times, with one difference: you can see from their faces that EVERYONE is convinced that their participation will help change something. It feels like about 500 people.”

In the comments, one of the users suggested that if children were also killed by firearms in Russia, the Russians would also take to the streets, in which the musician would doubt.

A few days before the musician compared the Russians and Americans.

“I haven’t been to America for about three years. And for the first time I was struck by how much calmer, more cheerful and kinder they were than us. It is not they who have become better - they have not become better. Something terrible is happening to us,” the singer wrote on his page.

After that, a debate broke out on the page of the musician regarding his statement.

The musician told how, while touring North America on the way from Chicago to Toronto, his phone “started ringing off the hook” from calls from journalists, but he politely avoided the conversation. “On the tenth call I started thinking - what happened? Who hasn't died yet? In the evening we got to the hotel, went online - that’s it! It turns out that I “called the Russians evil morons”! I'm being judged! Father of Russian democracy Milonov, titans of rock Sklyar and Loza! And other offended representatives of the Russian people,” said Makarevich.

The performer emphasized that he did not say what was attributed to him, and once again cited his comment: “It seems to me that state propaganda has invented some kind of 25th frame that really turns people into evil morons.”

“There is a difference, no? Although, judging by the rising wave of shit, this 25th frame is working, it’s working,” he added.

“Time Machine” is the most famous Russian rock band, founded back in 1969. They were the first to sing rock in Russian and make it popular. Boris Grebenshchikov, Vyacheslav Butusov and the group “Secret” sang as their opening act. March 25, famous Russian rockers will perform on stage in Miami.
