Mafiosi who was on the run for 11 years was found and arrested because of his love of football
Italian mafia boss Vincenzo La Porto has been arrested in Greece after police spotted him in a photo celebrating Napoli's Serie A victory. FoxNews.

La Porta has been on the run for 11 years and is linked to a dangerous organized crime group known as the Camorra.
La Porto was photographed on the island of Corfu in Greece celebrating on his balcony the victory of his hometown team that won the football championship. After investigators spotted him in a photograph, they headed to a Greek island to track down the 60-year-old fugitive.
The officers managed to take him into custody after they blocked traffic on the street along which the criminal was moving on his scooter.

He was captured outside a restaurant where he was reportedly working as a cook. His lawyer said he had started a new family in Greece and did not want to be extradited.
“He was killed by his passion for football and the Napoli team,” the police said in a statement. “He couldn’t help but celebrate the victory in the La Porta championship.”
La Porta was wanted on charges of criminal association, tax evasion and fraud. He will remain in prison until a panel of judges of the Court of Appeal rules on the request for extradition from Italy.

Italian authorities want him sent back so he can serve out a 14-year prison sentence, but his lawyer said LaPorta doesn't want extradition. He wants to stay in Greece with his new family.
“He started a new family in Greece. He has a 9 year old son and works as a cook to survive. He has heart problems. If he is extradited, he and his family will be separated,” the lawyer said.
